Being the worlds most recognizable scuba certification means you can take your certification with you anywhere in the world and be recognized. In the course, students will discover and review information about dive theory and equipment with a knowledgeable and passionate instructor. Following the classroom portion, students will spend time in the pool to perfect their skills. The final phase of certification comes in the form of dives in open water. When taking classes through The Scuba Company, you will go to the Blue Hole in Santa Rosa, NM to complete your open water dives. In addition to the pool time, you will complete four dives in the open water at Blue Hole.<br><br>This course is taught off-site.  You will be connect with The Scuba Company to complete your registration upon payment. Students will receive a 15% discount on mask, snorkel, and fins. This class provides with flexibility to choose your own specialties, based on your interests and what is available. Two dives are required though, deep and underwater navigation. Increase your knowledge, comfort and skill while enhancing your underwater experience. The AOWD course includes five adventure dives, completed over one weekend. Expand your dive knowledge and become a better diver.<br>Students will receive a 15% discount on mask, snorkel, and fins. You will be connect with The Scuba Company to complete your registration upon payment.<br><br>Course Dates: <br>May 16th: Orientation 6pm @ The Scuba Co.<br>May 18th/19th: Pool Day Highland Pool<br>May 25th and 26th: Blue Hole Dives<br><a href="https://recweb.unm.edu/register/#oac_classes:168c140ad06f4fe58a025b995a49db4f" target="_blank"><u>Register Now</u></a></p></p><p><h5 style="color:#ba0c2f; margin-bottom:0px;font-size:18px;" >SOLO Wilderness First Responder (May 28th - June 5th, 2024)</h5><p class="trip-info-body">SOLO’s Wilderness First Responder (WFR) course is the recognized industry standard for those who work as backcountry trip leaders, camp counselors, mountain guides, river guides, and ski patrollers.<br><br>WHO IS THE WFR COURSE FOR?<br><br>The WFR is the perfect course for anyone working in a position of leadership in an outdoor setting or for individuals who want a high level of wilderness medical training for extended personal backcountry trips or expeditions.<br><br>WHAT IS TAUGHT?<br><br>The WFR is 72+ hours long (8 to 10 days), and is a comprehensive and in-depth look at the standards and skills of dealing with: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies and Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies. Although these appear to be the same basic topics covered in our two-day WFA course, they are covered far more extensively, and there is much more hands-on practice. <br><br>Location:  UNM Outdoor Adventure Center and field locations (TBD) - Expect long days.  Participants will receive a parking pass good for 7 consecutive days.  Parking is free Sunday.  You\'ll have to pay for 2 full days of parking on your own.<br><br>Room and Board are NOT provided.
